The Goal
Travelling like a local seems like the goal for any traveller, but how many of us have ever actually interacted with these locals whose ways of exploration we so covet? Scouring the internet to find interesting places is often a task with each piece of information on a different website
The Users
The research for this case study included a combination of interviews and competitive research to understand existing apps. Through interviews I was able to identify what exactly is behaving an obstacle to users in creating authentic experiences when visiting a new city. I asked users questions about what they wish they could do during travel that they currently struggle to do and questions related to their experiences related to planning for such travel. The majority expressed that they find planning to be too time confusing and stressful to find exactly what they want despite the resources available online. They also expressed that these apps that help them in their travel have a single purpose - only navigation, only booking or only information. There doesn't seem to be a way to make this process simpler.
Main Issues
1. Planning for a trip is often stressful due to how scattered the information is over the internet.
2. It is difficult to find lists of places to visit based on specific interests.
3. It can be a challenge to interact with locals and be exposed authentic experiences
